VILLAGE REPORT – May 2011
Dog Bylaw – The Dog Control Officer starts making rounds in May, and the Dog Control Bylaw has been recently amended. It is now law to clean up your dog’s excrement on public property and property other than your own. This is a now a fineable offence with a penalty of $50. Dogs must be licensed, and on a leash with a person on the other end when in public. When a dog is impounded, the owner will be responsible for all fines and costs of impoundment before the dog is returned.
Salmo Judo ClassicThe Village of Salmo is excited to be hosting the Salmo Judo Classic on April 30th at the Salmo Community Centre.
Building Inspections – RDCK Chief Building Inspector Max Hoedeman will be in the Village office on Tuesdays from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. Please call the Village office if you would like to set up an inspection.
Payment – The Village does not accept credit cards or debit cards, due to the extra cost of processing. Cheques, cash and bank transfers will be accepted as always! Tax bills will be coming out in mid-May.
RDCK Recreation Commission – Public meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Salmo Community Centre.  
Mayor and CouncilMayor Henderson will be in the office every Monday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. If you have concerns or suggestions you would like to discuss with her, please call the Village Office at 357-9433 to arrange an appointment.   Council meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. at 423 Davies Avenue. Upcoming meetings will be on May 10th and 24th
Attending a Council Meeting as a Delegation – An application to present to Village Council must be submitted in writing by 4:30 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the meeting. Each delegation is limited to 15 minutes.
