VILLAGE REPORT – DECEMBER 2011
Property Taxes – It is not too late to claim your 2011 Home Owners Grant. If you have not done so at this time and you are eligible, please contact the Village Office and we will be happy to assist you. If you are 65 at any point in 2011, you are eligible for the additional senior’s grant this year. If you want to dispute your 2012 Assessment, contact BC Assessment Authority to appeal your assessment before January 31st.
Utilities – We will be sending out the annual utility bills early in the New Year. The new deadline for receiving a 10% discount has been extended to February 29th, 2012. The new rate for most homes will be $680.50 (before discount).
Dog and Business Licences – These expire on December 31st 2011. Please renew your licence before January 31st 2012.
Snow Clearance – Property owners in commercial areas are responsible for clearing snow and ice on sidewalks in front of their property by 10:00 a.m., and within 24 hours in residential areas. There have been complaints about villagers shoveling snow from their driveways onto other peoples’ property. Please be considerate of your neighbours and lend a hand to our senior or disabled citizens.
Village Snow Removal – The village crew are working very hard to keep our roads and sidewalks clear and safe from 4:00 am until 12:30 pm.  Please assist them by parking off street and staying a distance away from working equipment.
Radon Testing – If you would like to test your home for radon, the RDCK is supplying kits which are available at the Village office for a $15.00 donation.
Christmas Trees – Trees can be brought to the end of Lagoon Road in January to be burned in the Village burn pile. No tinsels please.
